In this workshop, Lisa will guide you through the paint-making process from start to finish, giving tips and guidance on what to look out for when foraging for pigment.
The making of natural watercolours is a very mediative process, each pigment with its own feel, smell and texture. All your senses will be used during this workshop and you should leave feeling a sense of calm.
In this workshop you will:
Learn how to create watercolour paint from scratch.
Be shown how to forage for suitable earth materials in the local area.
Grind the rocks/ earth you forage to a fine powder using a pestle and mortar and a sieve.
Learn about the ingredients needed for making watercolours and the ratios needed for different pigments.
Use a slab and muller to bind the pigment together ready to be used as paint.
You will leave the workshop with one handmade watercolour, a PDF guide and the knowledge to continue making your own natural watercolours at home.
This session will be hosted at Lisa’s Studio in Wood Green, North London. It will include a 45-minute walk to and around Alexandra Palace Park.
Tickets are priced at £50 per person. This workshop is suitable for beginners and all materials are included.
