Earth in My Hands: The Story Behind “100 Wild Earths”

This Earth Month, I’m creating 100 original paintings, and each one begins in the soil.

Literally.

I’ve spent years gathering earth pigments — ground rocks, soil, clay from the landscapes I walk, the places I return to, and the ones that changed me. These pigments are wild and raw, crushed and sifted by hand, each carrying the memory of where it came from.

This collection, “100 Wild Earths”, is my way of making something rooted and real. Something that feels alive with the textures, shadows, and silence of the land.

Why Earth Pigments?

Using natural pigments is a slow, grounding process. Each one behaves differently. Some are soft and powdery. Others are gritty and bold. Together, they create a palette that isn’t chosen — it’s found.

These pigments are a record of my time in nature. A visual diary. A way of saying: I was here, and I saw this.

The Paintings

Each piece in 100 Wild Earths is an abstract painting on raw linen, mounted on board. They’re not framed, and that’s intentional.

These are raw works — just like the earth.
Unpolished. Honest. True to their origin.

They’re inspired by shadows in nature, the curves of long grass, cloud formations shifting above, and the quiet strength of the land itself.

Why 100?

I wanted to create a body of work that feels generous and expansive — like nature.
100 mini works. £100 each. A way for more people to collect meaningful, earth-connected art.
